Quick Moves to Pump You Up During Office Hours

Especially with the weather and the shorter days, it can be tough to be on top of your game at all times. Here are a few things you can do to keep yourself from dozing off in the office so you can spend more time working.

Breathe and Stretch: It’s important to prevent tightness in your muscles due to sitting at your desk all day. This can lead to injury, soreness, or a lack of mobility. Good flexibility will lengthen keeping your body in check can help you tenfold. Breathing exercises can also reduce stress and bring you back to a state that is efficient.

Snack Attacks: A healthy snack can give you fuel when your energy is depleted. Stay away from any snacks packed with carbohydrates such as chips or crackers. Instead, try a handful of almonds or pistachios that are packed with protein. Veggie snacks are great too; they’re filled with nutrients.. Also drink as much water as you can; your body needs water to function and will keep your organs moving. A little coffee is fine, but don’t overdo the caffeine if you don’t want to crash.

Beats On Blast: If your day is going downhill, a great way to improve it is a song that you love. Even if you aren’t allowed to listen to music at your desk, put on your headphones on the way to the bathroom or a coffee break. Something that pumps you up will help you out the most.

Mini-Workouts: A few physical moves can help, but save anything that will make you sweat for the gym. Instead, get a few pushups in or maybe some jumping jacks. Some squats or crunches too will get you energized and ready to work.

Take a Mid-Afternoon Walk: if you’re tired after spending too many hours indoors, take a 10 minute break to enjoy being outside. You body will react to the sunlight’s stimulation and help keep you awake. It will also give you a daily vitamin D boost and some fresh oxygen.

Say No to Going Up: Although the elevator might be easier, springing for the stairs instead of the lift is a much better choice. The exercise is great, but it will also improve your self-esteem. Knowing that you consciously chose the more physical route will make you feel better about yourself, while also getting your body more physical activity.

Utilize the Power Nap: Although naps get a bad rap for being for the lazy, they truly can be beneficial to your vigor and wellbeing. A quick power nap can reboot your energy levels tenfold. There is even scientific evidence of midday naps aiding mental sharpness and overall health.
